The agency is expecting around 1,000 students to take part in the volunteer projects this summer.  The programs are about two-weeks long, and are geared toward causes such as helping caring for promoting human rights, repair houses, help care for children, protect ecosystems, and paint schools. According to Worldmark, the company “identified a system error, which delayed the cancellation process, and inadvertently caused Ms. Gronlund to be contacted.”

New Jersey Timeshare Fraud Scam: 16 Individuals charged

In a recent scam regarding timeshare mail fraud, nine people have been arrested in New Jersey. Seven others have also been charged in other states involving the conspiracy that milked $2.4 million out of victims who were looking for a way out of their timeshare ownership.

The Vacation Ownership Group began to be investigated by law enforcement in July of 2010, and the investigation lead to the discovery of the defendant’s involvement in the fraudulent scheme from March 2009 to September 2011. It was found that the accused would often use fake identities to contact and convince desperate timeshare owners that VO group could relieve them of their timeshare obligations by simply wiring money to pay off their timeshare mortgages. The timeshare owners were given the impression that they would be able to pay off their mortgage balance at a substantially reduced amount in order to get the property cancelled out of their name or sold. If convicted, each defendant will stand to face 20 years in prison along with a $250,000 fine.
