Philippines Travel Warning Issued For U.S. Citizens

There has been a recently updated travel warning put into place by the U.S. State Department. Due to the state of emergency declared by the government in the Philippines in parts of the country; the State Department claims that this could cause travel problems.

There was an original warning put into place by the State Department back in June. The travel warnings had been issued due to the increasing insurgent activity and possible terrorist attacks. The most recently noted attack was this past November when an Islamic Militant Group known as The Abu Sayyaf (linked to al-Qaida) is suspected to have killed three people in a Southern Philippines hotel.
